WhoWe Are?

Jointly established by Documentary Committee of China Radio and Television Association and Beijing ZhongshiWengong CultureMedia Co., Ltd., Tropic of Cancer Documentary Angel Fund (Tropic of Cancer) aims at helping doc makers with creative ideas realizing their dreams. We are looking for documentaryideas with realistic subjects which are focusing on people and stories of Chinese society during different historical periods, especially the ordinary people in the context of a swiftly changing society in modern China.

What We Do?

If you are a documentary film maker or a documentary enthusiast with good idea but without startup funds, we can help you developing your idea into a standard pitch. As long as your idea or story gets approved, we will fund you to make an internationally competitive project pitch.

What you will get

• Seed capital (depending on subjects) to develop you idea into internationally competitive pitch;
• Opportunity to talk with professionals in the field;
• Opportunity to participate in project pitching at Chineseand international documentary film festivals;
• Opportunity to attend film premiere and launch event;
• Opportunity for future cooperation.

Funding Procedure

• 1.Review: we will review your application form and nominate candidates to be funded.
• 2.Interview: candidates will be interviewed by the Tropic of Cancer panel to improve the idea.
• 3.Award: at least four groups of selected ideas will get funded every year and the award will be granted at documentary film festivals along with contract signing.
• 4.Person who gets funded and the person in charge of Tropic of Cancer will jointly decide the productioncrew,production schedule and budget together.
• 5.Sign contract.
• 6.Move to the stage of teaser production.
